Landscapes of Contact

Rendered through the symbol of the horse, urging to take shape yet resisting materialization, Yurenev’s practice organizes landscapes of contact, whereby humans and the internet domesticate each other. A dark-lit room functions as a vacuum, totemizing his research—at HeyHuman! residency (Catalonia) in 2026, accumulus of archive on a carousel slide projector, and CNN Breaking News Livestream Broadcast of Coup d’État in Moscow in 1993 reorganised Alphabetically, 2025—into a self-organized audience of confrontation. The viewer intervenes as context, whereby the act of witnessing enables the systems of contact through which the three video projections both question their own meaning, and solidify them, dependantly to one another. A troubled display therefore pulls on both poles of interpretation’s fragile function; language as treadmill and redemption.
